This blog post discusses the introduction of High Dynamic Range (HDR) video at Netflix and the development of Dynamically Optimized (DO) encoding for optimized bitrate-quality tradeoffs. It explains the creation of HDR-VMAF for measuring perceptual quality of HDR streams and the challenges faced during its development due to the pandemic.
